Since time immemorial, those known in the region where Quinta do Monte Alegre are located have referred to the use of these lands as coutadas of the Portuguese monarchy to capture game and capture raw materials for the kingdom of Portugal.

From the beginning of the century. In the 20th century, the first vineyards were planted, of which there are official records. With the acquisition of the property by Rodolfo Pereira, the plantation area was gradually increased by the Santana Pereira family from the 1980s onwards, serving as support for the production and shipment of the family wines at the Xavier Santana winery in Palmela, founded in 1926 by Xavier Santana, the first generation of producers.

In 2004, the classification of the first wines produced on the farm with the Denomination of Origin certification, launched on the market under the registered trademark “Quinta do Monte Alegre”, began.
